soaring petrol prices

Yep, the petrol prices are going out through the roof. On cheap Tuesday $73 got me 55.5 litres at $1.32 a litre. Tip no. one is to keep down the speed. This will SAVE! Of course it's slower but with a nice selection of choice CD's or by tuning in to a choice radio show the 5 minutes or so of added time is hardly worth a mention

Price Rise

Well, over the last week the fuel prices have jumped up dramatically. I spent over $70 on fuel last week just driving around. Even the cheap Tuesday price was not that cheap. The market seems to change very rapidly to disadvantage people as quickly as possible. With the impending fuel price notification system, the independent outlets are somehow at a disadvantage. More regulation can come at a price. I think I'm going to grow some wheat and convert it to ethanol soon.

fuel bill

well, it's good to know that with careful driving, fuel costs can be lower. This last week I did about 9 Kms per litre, with 427.5 Kms using a total of 47.38 L. The way to do this of course is to fill the fuel tank to full, set the odometer to zero, drive around until you are ready to refuel, and then divide the Kms into the litres used. Anyone interested in not only saving money, but also doing something personally about the environment, should be tracking their own usage of fuel.

fuel up tomorrow

Tomorrow I'm going to fuel 'er up - done 350kms so far this week. Should be interesting to see how I went....I was definitely easier on the gas peddle this week so it should pay off...The temptation is always there to gas 'er up a bit and so burn fuel that much faster - its competition that creates the impulse. Bye for now.

share ride

I was going to my worksite for quite a while with a co-worker. We were going halves in the petrol bill and also saved on petrol because of course it meant that there was one more car off the road. Getting people together in the one car can pay off, don't you think?

efficient injectors

I put 1/2 litre of two-stroke oil in with a full tank of fuel recently. The purpose of this crazy-sounding idea is to clean the injectors on the engine. (The injectors are a part of the engine that injects fuel into the engine, rather than it being sucked in.) Not all cars have fuel injectors but it could help to lubricate the carby. Anyway, it didn't run so well with this in the fuel but now the engine runs great! If nothing else it can help by lubricating the upper part of the engine. Try it if you dare.

fuel prices

now I filled up for the week and it cost me $71.36. I got it for $1.23 per litre. Now it seems good to get it at this price. Last week it was only $53.77 (to fill up the tank). That's almost $20! I'll be watching it a bit closer.
This really got me working today on driving slowly.
